The real potential of cryptocurrency may extend far beyond what a token is worth. Around the world, digital assets and blockchain technology are being used to support local commerce, distribute assistance, encourage participation, and improve accountability.
In Kenya, the Sarafu community currency reached more than 40,000 registered users and facilitated more than $3 million in community trade, demonstrating how a community currency can help people exchange goods and services even where conventional money is limited.
The World Food Programme has used blockchain technology to coordinate humanitarian assistance while reducing transaction costs and improving accountability. UNHCR has tested blockchain-based payments delivered directly to displaced people through digital wallets, while UNICEF has used cryptocurrency to help fund technology and social-impact initiatives.
These examples do not predict WEARE's success. They demonstrate that digital assets can create practical utility when connected to defined purposes and functioning communities.
WEARE begins with a different proposition: build the community first, then develop meaningful uses for the token within that community.
Within the On The Rise Community—a Community of Communities—WEARE is being developed for purposes beyond simply buying, selling, or holding a digital asset. Through community programs and initiatives such as R2PIP and CommunityImpact, its potential includes connecting participation, recognition, incentives, businesses, creators and measurable community impact.
The lesson from successful digital-asset initiatives is straightforward:
A token alone does not build a community. A community that gives a token meaningful utility can build an ecosystem.
