Porchlight is a faith-led, community-rooted initiative designed to stabilize and strengthen youth, children, and families experiencing disruption due to incarceration, treatment, and housing instability. Through a coordinated, multi-program model, Porchlight creates pathways from crisis to stability, and from stability to independence.
At the front line is Harbor Reach, Porchlight’s outreach and engagement program. Harbor Reach meets individuals and families where they are—providing basic needs such as hygiene supplies, clothing, and immediate support while building trust. It serves as the first point of connection, ensuring that no one feels unseen and that every individual has a clear pathway into deeper services.
From there, families and youth can transition into Waypoint, Porchlight’s housing stabilization program. Waypoint provides safe, structured living environments, including shared tiny home placements for youth and young adults. Participants contribute through meaningful work and shared responsibility, fostering both stability and dignity. Waypoint is designed not just to house individuals, but to create a sense of belonging and accountability.
Brighton Station serves as Porchlight’s childcare and family support hub. It offers safe, high-quality childcare—including care for children with open DCYF cases—and functions as a 24-hour support system for working families. Brighton Station is also a workforce training site, equipping participants with early childhood education (ECE) experience, certifications, and hands-on learning opportunities that lead to sustainable employment.
Building on that foundation, New Routes is Porchlight’s workforce development and life skills program. Through structured workshops, real-world job experiences, and mentorship, participants gain employment readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial skills. Participants contribute to on-site operations—such as hospitality, maintenance, and childcare—earning stipends and building savings. Upon completion of the program, participants leave with both experience and financial support to secure independent housing.
Together, these programs form a continuous, integrated pathway:
Harbor Reach engages and connects
Waypoint stabilizes through housing
Brighton Station supports families and trains caregivers
New Routes builds skills, income, and long-term independence
Porchlight’s model is rooted in dignity, responsibility, and opportunity—ensuring that individuals are not only supported, but empowered to move forward with stability and purpose.
